Summertime is moving at a swimmingly swift pace (even though most of the days haven’t been too suited for swimmin’, unfortunately). But new sounds are finding their way onto the playlists for both Boss Radio and The Prairie Lily Special throughout the season…
More Fresh Soul For Friday Freedom Riders!
Boss Radio (Friday 4-6 pm) resumes unleashing more Summer Soul new to the show on you listeners, continuing our salute to the Kent/Modern labels and rolling out more of the genre’s pioneering artists during the “Classic Iron Homestretch” from 5:30 to 6. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: “Nobody Has More Soul Than Boss Radio!” Comprendez? Don’t make me have to repeat myself. Thank You.
Jimmy Murphy “Bookender” Subject For Next Two Weeks
Alabama-born Jimmy Murphy is one of those performers who came and went without much fanfare. Despite being a popular radio draw on southern radio stations, Murphy’s quirky, anachronistic recordings seemed to find a larger audience years after first being unleashed upon a bedazzled (confused maybe?) public. Anything I write in attempting to describe his records would deal him short shrift and be unintentionally deceiving of the man’s talent, so you’ all have to listen to The Prairie Lily Special (Saturday 6-8 pm) this weekend and on July 31st to understand what this fellar’s music is all about! He’s a nutter…but a keeper!
‘Later Friday Freedom Riders and Pards’ Of All Ages!
