PRAIRIE LILY SPECIAL’S BOOKENDER SPOTLIGHTS…FROM GARAGE SALE TO RADIOTHON

Now that another awesome CJTR Music Garage Sale has come and gone, I now have enough time to send this message to my Pards’ so that you’ll know about all the future legends headed your way on The Prairie Lily Special’s (Saturdays 6 – 8pm) Bookender Spotlight. Here goes…

June 14th & 21st – HOMER & JETHRO
Country Music’s Dynamic Duo of Comedy during the forties’ to sixties’ were also two of it’s finest instrumentalists (and play a part in the upcoming Bookender devoted to The Country All-Stars in August). Hear and learn more about Henry Haynes (Homer) and Kenneth Burns (Jethro) on this upcoming Bookender.

June 28th – THE THIRTEENTH ANNUAL ALL CANADIAN COUNTRY MUSIC SHOW.

No Bookender, but hey, it’s special in it’s own patriotic way. SO THERE!

July 5th & 12th – LEON MCAULIFFE (REVISITED)

The steel-guitarist extraordinaire who helped propel Bob Will’s Texas Playboys, Leon McAuliffe elected to stay in Tulsa rather than move to California after WWII with his boss. McAuliffe formed his own crack Western Swing group, The Cimarron Boys, bought a ballroom in downtown Tulsa for them to play in and signed a recording contract with Columbia Records. He was the subject of a Bookender Spotlight years ago, but NONE of what you’ll hear on this Bookender has ever been played before on TPLS. All new to us…all new to YOU! Take It Away LEON!

July 19th & 26th – SKEETS MCDONALD (REVISITED)

A Southern Californian hillbilly turned proto-rockabilly, Skeets wad also the subject of a previous Bookender from years back and, like Leon McAuliffe, we’ve acquired enough never before heard sides by Skeets to turn our station into a parking lot.

Also coming soon…

August 2nd & 9th – SLIM WHITMAN

August 16th – SANDY POSEY

August 23rd & 30th – THE COUNTRY ALL-STARS

September 6th & 13th – SONNY BURNS

More details to come in future blogs kids.
