The Conservatory of Performing Arts and Centre for Continuing Education at the University of Regina is undertaking an oral and written history project Out of the Darke to highlight the impact that the historic Darke Hall performing arts venue has had on generations of people in southern Saskatchewan. Through literary and multimedia works, the project will feature previously untold oral stories and written histories of twenty-five people who have a deep connection to Darke Hall.
Operating since January 1929, Darke Hall is a jewel on the prairies. With major renovations to restore and modernize the venue concluding soon, Darke Hall will continue to touch the lives of people in our community and across Canada, and in all areas of the arts as a catalyst for creation, inspiration, and community. In celebration of its future, project organizers are looking for twenty-five storytellers from the community to tell the tale of their personal connection to Darke Hall’s historic past!
This storytelling process is being led by artist Paul Dechene.
