Black to the Future
This monthâs artist in residence is Jaye, with the program, Black to the Future:
âBlack to the future is a radio show that bears witness to and celebrates the experiences of Queer and Trans Black folks across the prairies. During this show, we examine our relationship to this space. We hear about the experiences of disassociation, confusion, grief, discovery, and joy. My hope for this show is to explore prairie experiences that are routinely erasedâŚand we have a few laughs along the way.â
Tune in every Saturday in July from 3-4pm to listen in!
BIOGRAPHY: Jaye is a Queer, Non-binary person who calls Treaty 4 Territory home. Jaye is a contemporary dancer. He enjoys exploring the relationship between space, power, and the body. Jaye has always been interested in how Black folks have influenced contemporary dance culture. Jaye is curious and terrified of exploring improvisation in contemporary dance; which makes dance a little more interesting. While simultaneously excited and afraid, Performance is their first love. While heâs not dancing, Jaye enjoys teaching youth about the world around them.
