Year 2, Season 1: Curtis Scheschuk, February 2017 Artist-in-Residence
Curtis Scheschuk is the Double Bass Instructor at The University Regina’s Conservatory of Performing Arts and Faculty of Music. Curtis studied performance practice with renowned Baroque/Classical violinist Stanley Ritchie at the Indiana University School of Music’s Early Music Institute, Double Bass with string pedagogue Lawrence Hurst and former NBC Orchestra Bassist Murray Grodner at Indiana University, as well as Canadian Double Bassist Joel Quarrington. Curtis is the director and one of the founding members of The Boundary Ensemble. He has performed and recorded with ensembles and artists in many genres from traditional fiddle players to jazz ensembles to symphony orchestras. He is currently the President of The Saskatchewan Orchestral Association.
????????What happens when radio is considered a creative space similar to a laboratory, studio or venue, supporting expression and experimentation?
????????????Plain A.I.R. is an artist-in-residence radio program that airs on 91.3FM CJTR, Regina’s community radio station. Each month the program features a different local artist, DJ, musician, band or community member as a guest host who programs a month’s worth of live, weekly radio shows.
The program airs Saturday afternoons from 3-4pm between January and April (Season 1) and September and December (Season 2) in 2017.
