Tune in every Saturday in January from 10-11 am on CFCR (90.5 FM) + 3-4 pm on CJTR (91.3 FM)!!
“COSMOS” a multidisciplinary show by queer indie-musician Micah Jane and interdisciplinary poet Peace Akintade! Join them as they converse with interdisciplinary artists in Saskatoon, rave about the intersectionality of Saskatoon, share some live poetry and exclusive music demos, and share weekly word of affirmations towards the care of Saskatoon youths.
Peace Akintade is an African Canadian Interdisciplinary Poet, Public Speaker, and Thespian residing in Saskatoon Saskatchewan. Forestry Farm’s “Artist-in Residence”. Former 2020- July 2021 Saskatchewan Youth Poet Laureate, Co-coordinator of Write Out Loud, a Saskatoon-based Youth Poetry Community, and board member of the Tonight it’s Poetry Community. Part of the Youth Speaker’s Bureau for the Office of the Treaty Commissioner. One of the 21 Black Playwrights chosen for Obsidian Theatre’s 21 Black Future Project. Her play “Madness with Rocks’ ‘ can be found on CBCArts and CBCGem. Her other works can be found in the History Folklore Society, Kindred Cities, CBC, Global News, SaskArts, the Saskatchewan Writers Guild, the Voices of Today Anthology, “Birthday Party” Anthology, Leaders Post, TOAST, and SaskCulture.
Her poems touch on the impact of slavery in her village, colorism, growing up in Kuwait, Nigeria, and Canada, and relearning her culture in the face of colonization.
Micah Jane is an 18 year old Canadian singer / songwriter living in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Her style is dramatic and bold, with music ranging from edgy electro pop to soft, acoustic guitar ballads. Her songs explore themes of grief, queerness and most notably feeling comfortable in your own skin. Currently, she is wrapping up an artist Residency at the Bunkhouse Project, and recently co wrote, directed and performed a sold out headlining show for Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan. She is currently preparing for a variety of creative projects, including a self produced ep that will be released in 2022. As a shamelessly confident non binary person navigating a male dominated music industry, she is looking forward to taking over the world and inspiring others through her art.
